Breaking Free Therapeutic Riding Center is a non-profit 501(c)(3) equine therapy center located in southeastern Ohio. Our mission is: Empowering individuals with diverse challenges through unique equine-assisted therapeutic experiences.
We have been in operation since 2008 and gained our Premier Accredited Center Member certification from PATH International in 2013. We offer several programs in a safe supportive environment. As a non-profit organization, Breaking Free Therapeutic Riding Center exist through the efforts of volunteers, donations, fundraisers and sponsors.
Riding can help:
Improve the individual's physical, psychological and cognitive abilities. The horse is a means of exercise, as well as a warm and friendly companion.
Who we serve:
In 2021 alone Breaking Free Instructors taught over 1000 riding lessons with up to 40 riders each week with the help of over 65 volunteers and 12 equine partners.
PATH international
Breaking Free earned a Premier Accredited Center Member certification in October 2013 through Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship Intl. We have been a PATH Center Member and followed their safety and program guidelines since 2009 when we began.
PATH is an international governing body that sets standards for equine therapy and equine facilitated learning for centers who provide services for the disabled. PATH Int. has been a leader in equine therapy since 1969. You can visit their website at http://www.pathintl.org
Our instructors are PATH Registered Instructors who must complete training and testing to become registered. They also complete continuing education hours annually. PATH's training standards insure our instructors are highly trained and follow strict guidelines for the safety of our participants, volunteers and equine.
